John "Woody" Woodring

John Woodring is the ultimate narcissist. He has self published a True Crime book, and thinks he is highly intelligent. He's wrong, very wrong. He is a domestically violent, nasty, conceted narcissistic man who took it WAY too far, bursting into a women's refuge to kill his estranged wife in mid September.

Since this time he has been on the run, with the FBI considering him armed and dangerous.

During his time on the run I have been reading the articles on Crime Library by David Lohr and I have been both impressed with Lohr's research and horrified by the person he has uncovered.

Woodring's wife Bonnie had left him after an ongoing string of violent episodes. In her Domestic Violence Protection Order Bonnie said that their 18 month relationship was full of intimidation, rages and threats to kill her if she ever left. Like all domestically violent people, once Bonnie had left him, he started apologising, sending flowers, promising it would never happen again and so on. He sent multiple emails to Bonnie in the 48 hours before he killed her. She didn't respond, and in fact refused delivery of the flowers, but apparently he didn't get the hint. Or more to the point, he refused to get the hint.

One of the precipitating factors to the breakdown of their marriage was Woody's roving eye. In his last email to Bonnie he claims to never have cheated on her during their marriage. Yet during his research David Lohr found Woody on several sites, including an adult personals site. Woody had left out his marital status and taken 5 years off his age. Lohr also spoke to a woman who had had sex with Woody during his marriage. Not just violent, but a liar too.

In his last email Woody tried the ultimate blackmail - he intimated that he was going to kill himself. I'm sure he thought that would get Bonnie back, but as Lohr says "no one loves Woody Woodring as much as Woody Woodring loves himself". It is highly unlikely that Bonnie even read that email - a mere six minutes passed between the email being sent and Bonnie being killed.

Woody is still on the run, and there is some talk that he has a laptop with a wireless internet connection. If that is the case, he is such a narcissist he will be reading everything on the internet about him. In that light the last paragraph of the most recent Crime Library article is pure gold:

"If you think about it, Woody's life is quite ridiculous. Here we have this man, who wanted nothing more then to have people look up to him — Woody the Marine — Woody the Author — Woody the Businessman, and in the end all that's left is Woody the Coward. He is too chicken to step up and be a man. Too chicken to take responsibility for his own actions. You're a sad man John Raymond Woodring. A very sad man." (David Lohr, you rock!)

All bullies are cowards - and that is all Woody is - a bully and a coward.
